Proofsheet privacy policy
Proofsheet is a film camera app with no accounts and no servers of its own. Photos you take stay on your iPhone until the roll develops, then go to your Photos library when you allow it. There are no analytics or advertising SDKs and no tracking. Last updated 3 October 2026.
Who is responsible for your data?
The developer of Proofsheet is responsible for this policy. Proofsheet has no account and no server of its own, so the developer does not receive your photos, rolls or settings.
Your photos
Photos you take with Proofsheet are stored on your iPhone, inside the app, until the roll develops. Developed photos, proof sheets and reels are saved to your Photos library when you allow it. Proofsheet asks only for add-only access, so it cannot see your other photos. Deleting the app before a roll develops deletes those frames. When you collect crew frames, you choose photos in the system photo picker, and Proofsheet receives only the photos you pick.
Camera
The camera takes the photos on your roll and scans roll tickets. Nothing from the camera leaves your iPhone unless you share it.
Crew rolls and links
A crew roll ticket is a link. The roll settings (name, film look, number of frames, develop time) are stored inside the part of the link after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server. The ticket web page only reads it in your browser and stores nothing. Frames move between people only when you share them yourself through the iOS share sheet. Each crew frame carries a small note in its photo data with the roll code, frame number and the initials you chose, so the host can sort the frames.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple. To check what you have bought, Proofsheet uses a third-party billing service, which receives an anonymous app user ID and your App Store purchase history and keeps them under its own policy. The billing service does not receive your photos, name or email. See the billing service's privacy policy. There are no other third parties.
What we do not do
There are no accounts, no analytics or advertising SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites and no tracking prompt. Proofsheet uses no location, contacts or microphone access. We do not sell or share personal data.
Notifications
Reminders for a roll that is ready to develop, a crew roll that develops soon and an optional mid-week nudge are scheduled on your iPhone. Each can be turned off in Settings.
Deleting your data
Data stays on your iPhone until you remove it. Settings > Delete all Proofsheet data removes rolls, sheets and settings from this iPhone. Photos already saved in your library stay there. Deleting the app also removes its data. iCloud device backups follow your iOS backup settings.
